WWE wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson is extremely conscious of his health, physique, and diet. Johnson has generously shared insights into his daily fitness routine and dietary habits through his social media pages. Despite his massive, muscular physique, Johnson wasn’t able to quite figure out one health crisis.
Johnson revealed during a recent interview that he had consulted numerous experts on his gut issue before Ari Emanuel helped him out with the issue. Johnson continues to be an advocate for maintaining a healthy physique, as he promotes healthy lifestyles and has invested in health-related brands.
Dwayne Johnson couldn’t solve his gut issue for a long time
Dwayne Johnson recently appeared on a podcast with Dr. Mark Hyman, who is a renowned expert in functional medicine. Johnson has been consulting Dr. Hyman for his health issues, and they touched upon several topics during their long chat. Early on in the chat, when they discussed how they met, Dr. Hyman shared, “You also struggled with the health care system and getting the answers you needed, and figuring out what’s going on.”
One of their first topics of discussion involved Johnson’s gut issue, which had been a problem for the Smashing Machine star for a long time. He shared that he had consulted many doctors and experts regarding his gut issue, but no one was able to provide him with a proper solution.
He revealed that he once casually mentioned it to his friend, business partner, and long-time agent, Ari Emanuel. He revealed his issue to Emanuel, sharing, “Man, I got this gut issue. I’ve seen doctors, and I can’t quite nail it. I can’t quite fix it. It’s in my digestion, I feel great, and that’s the odd thing, but I just can’t crack it.”
It was Emanuel who told him about Dr. Hyman and basically vouched for him and his advice. Johnson recalled his first meeting on Zoom with Dr. Hyman, who asked him if he knew anything about functional medicine. Johnson had no clue about the doctor’s expertise. All he cared about was whether Dr. Hyman could resolve his gut issue.
Dr. Hyman told him, “I’m not going to treat your symptoms. I’m going to go deeper than that and I’m going to treat the root cause of what’s going on.” It appears that the doctor was eventually able to solve Johnson’s unsolvable health issue.
Dwayne Johnson also had a major issue with his abs
Fans have pointed out on numerous occasions that something was wrong with Dwayne Johnson’s abs. When Johnson and Emily Blunt appeared in the WIRED Autocomplete interview series, he was asked about his abs. One of the most searched Google queries about him was “What is wrong with The Rock’s abs?”.
The Black Adam actor laughed at the question while sharing that the question was “so f**ked up.” Johnson revealed that he underwent a medical procedure, a triple hernia surgery, that left him with not-so-perfect abs. He shared in the interview:
I tore the top of my quad off my pelvis in a wrestling match. That caused a chain reaction, and it tore my abdomen wall. I had to do a triple hernia emergency surgery…so they’re not like perfect abs.
Johnson earlier revealed in an interview with Delish that he consumed approximately 6000-8000 calories per day over the years. While the specific components of his diet varied, the Fast Five actor confirmed that he ate six to seven meals a day, regardless of whether he was preparing for a movie role.
The Jungle Cruise actor is also famous for his cheat meals, the most famous being the big, bulky bacon cheeseburger.
