James Gunn Shares Drop Dead Gorgeous Pic of Superman Actress: “Hanging out with me… on the day of her costume fitting”

For a first major release in an extended cinematic universe, Superman is filled to the brink, whether it’s the in-universe’s already established superheroes, or Clark Kent’s associates and loved ones. Although on paper, things seem a bit too crowded for a standalone feature, it’s important to note that most of the roster includes Superman characters like Lois, Olsen, and Perry White, which are essential for a good Superman story.
Another such character is Cat Grant, played by Mikaela Hoover, and her recent sneak peek from James Gunn has left fans stoked.
Mikaela Hoover’s Cat Grant garners traction ahead of Superman‘s release
In comics, Cat Grant is a co-worker and romantic interest to Clark, and even though it’s safe to assume she won’t be a love interest to Clark in Superman, her inclusion could enrich the Daily Planet’s workplace dynamic. As for Mikaela Hoover, who will play Grant in the new DCU, this isn’t her first rodeo in a James Gunn production.
Having previously appeared as Mikaela Hoover in The Suicide Squad, Hoover has been one of Gunn’s frequent collaborators, whose work history with the filmmaker dates back to the Guardians director’s pre-Marvel days. With the Superman marketing hitting the accelerator, Gunn, known for keeping transparency through his socials, recently unveiled a sneak peek of Hoover’s Grant, with a caption, “Cat Grant (Mikaela Hoover) hanging out with me on set of the Jarhanpur desert on the day of her costume fitting.”
As expected, fans are going wild over it.

Although her involvement and influence in the overall narrative remain unclear, hopefully, her DCU stint will extend past its grand big-screen beginning.
Mikaela Hoover elaborates on playing Cat Grant
Similar to Gunn’s approach to CBMs, Hoover hasn’t shied away from deep-diving into the comics to get into her character’s headspace. While Grant, in contrast to Hoover, was totally unfiltered, past Grant’s credentials as a gossip columnist, The Suicide Squad star found a lot of common ground with her onscreen counterpart.
In an interview with DC Studios Showcase, she added:
The stuff that I loved about Cat was the fact that she started out as a gossip columnist. I think that is so fun, and she’s so unfiltered, and I’m totally filtered, but I found a lot of similarities in us when I booked it, and going through the comics, there’s a lot of similarities there.
Considering Superman will be at the forefront of this new universe, hopefully, his Daily Mail associates, especially Cat Grant, will get their fair share of screen time to shine and breathe life into the Daily Planet. And with Superman’s potential eying a strong start at the box office, the DC universe might be heading for a grand start on the big screen.
Superman is slated to release on July 11, 2025 (USA).
