Matt Smith Got Physically Assaulted By Crazed Fan Outside Movie Set, Tried To Kiss Him “Really Aggressively” After Calling Him By Animal Names
It might feel like an absolutely stunning thing to be in the glitzy business of entertainment, but it’s certainly not entirely good. For several actors like Matt Smith have not only recalled their horrific work experience but also broke their silence on being assaulted by fans.
While actors undoubtedly turn into celebrities because of fans, it’s not always fun to be surrounded or hackled by them. During a discussion with MTV UK, Matt Smith recalled his horrific experience of being harassed by a fan outside a movie set and being kissed aggressively.
Matt Smith Turned Into an Overnight Celebrity
With fame comes fandom, and no one in the entertainment industry will know it better than the English actor Matt Smith. Rising to fame with his breakout role as the Eleventh Doctor in the BBC’s iconic science-fiction adventure series Doctor Who (2005), Smith turned into an overnight celebrity.
Further, he became a household name after his appearance in the 2016 television show The Crown. Playing the role of young Prince Philip, in the show based on an award-winning play The Audience, Matt Smith appeared in the first two seasons of the series. Later on, his fame took him to be a part of the Game of Thrones prequel.
Following his rise in fame, Matt Smith took on the role of Daemon Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Playing the role of Daenerys’ ancestors in the prequel series to HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones, Smith acquired a massive fanbase. However, the actor wasn’t all happy with his fans.
Matt Smith Recalled Being Assaulted By a Fan
According to a snippet shared from an interview with MTV UK, Matt Smith recalled a horrific experience surrounding a female fan. Right outside a movie set, Smith recalled how he was harassed by his fan, who kept calling him animal names and assaulted him by kissing aggressively.
“I came out of set, and I walked out, and there was a woman there with a picture or a poster of a hedgehog. And she said, ‘you look like this hedgehog’ and then she tried to kiss me but really really aggressively.”
Sitting beside Douglas Booth, promoting their 2016 movie Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Matt Smith discussed the terrifying experience of being harassed by a fan. However, eventually, Smith had his security, who removed the woman while she apparently kept screaming animal names at him.
“And then security had to like pick her up, but she just kept screaming the word hedgehog.”
Certainly, the experience wasn’t quite fun for Matt Smith. Although he was smiling and laughing during the interview, the actor seemed visibly uncomfortable even while sharing the experience.
