The Modern Warfare 3 Beta Is Already Being Plagued With Cheaters

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Beta has been out for PlayStation 5 gamers since the 6th of October, initially available to those who pre-ordered the game. Fans have long complained about hackers and cheaters in Call of Duty‘s multiplayer modes in previous titles, which has been a recurring nightmare for many. While the Beta for Modern Warfare 3 has been out for less than a week, the game is already plagued by cheaters, much to the frustration of fans.

Gamers used to hack and cheat their way using jail-broken consoles in the past, which is not possible anymore as jail-broken consoles cannot access online services.

Cheaters and hackers plaguing Call of Duty games to gain an advantage and spoil the fun for others is not unheard of; however, the fact that the recently opened Beta access to Modern Warfare 3 is filled with cheaters has frustrated fans even more. This time around, it’s not gamers with jail-broken consoles who are out to create chaos, as that’s no longer a viable option.

There seems to be a set of dev-kit editions of PlayStation 4, using which cheaters can access online services.

Jail-broken PlayStation 4 consoles can only be upgraded to Firmware 9.00; however, consoles with this firmware version currently have no way of connecting to PSN or even installing the ongoing Beta for Modern Warfare 3. Open Beta for Modern Warfare 2 also required consoles to be updated to at least the 9.60 version.

On the other hand, PlayStation 4 Dev-Kits can access online services, and this is what seems to be used to hack MW3 Beta at the moment. A former developer, brad, has shed light on what’s happening and the steps that were taken the last time around, which might be enforced again soon.

brad went on to explain that when a console gets old enough, it also stops getting firmware updates, which eventually forces players with jail-broken consoles to wait “until a jailbreak releases for the newest firmware.

brad also reminded gamers that the older editions of Call of Duty games were exploited using a PlayStation 3. He mentioned this was stopped by dropping support for older consoles. Brad also touched upon the rumor that MW3 might be the last Call of Duty game to support PlayStation 4. He concluded by stating:

Developers can use their anti-cheats to prevent this to the best of their ability, but the only solution is dropping support.

Once the game is publicly released, gamers can access a total of 16 remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009). The remastered maps will have upgraded graphics and new modes, while a new mode titled Modern Warfare Zombies is bringing the biggest Zombies map yet to the game. The Zombies mode will see players squad up and work together to survive increasingly difficult hordes of zombies.

Week 2 of Open Beta will begin later this week, on the 12th of October, and is set to feature a level cap of 30. Maps include the Highrise Map and an additional Ground War map, while the mode will be the Search and Destroy mode. The classical Search and Destroy mode will see players either eliminate the defending team or try to detonate one of the two bomb sites.

Other modes in the Beta include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Ground War, and a new take on Team Deathmatch named Kill Confirmed. This new take on Team Deathmatch will require players to grab Dog Tags from killed enemies, while players can also grab their teammate’s Dog Tags to deny the other team from scoring a kill.
