Randy Orton’s stature as the Legend Killer hardened into that of a legend over the years in the squared circle. From being one of the most notorious heels of the company, he has turned into a fan-favourite, thanks to a hardcore brand of wrestling.
However, for every superstar, the start isn’t as he wants it to be. There would be multiple bumps and eventually, it is about overcoming them all. Similarly, when Randy Orton started his WWE career, it wasn’t one of the smooth-sailing rides. He had to work for himself and eventually after a handful of superb fights in the ring and even better promos, he made his way to the top.
A character as colourful as Randy Orton is obviously rumored to have his own share of dating speculations. Knowing Orton’s early personality, one would very easily point out that he was with several women across his career. Truth be told, inthe real world, speculations about celebrities fanned out faster than light.
Why was Randy Orton threatened by a top WWE female star?
The Viper made his main roster debut in 2002. Ever since his debut, he has turned up regularly, putting up shows to remember. Alongside Orton, fellow female wrestler Dawn Marie joined the Blue brand as well. Now, the two were obviously close, considering the fact that they made their debut in a month’s succession.
However, rumours soon started taking flight about Marie dating Orton, which were fueled faster after Orton was spotted getting out of the former’s room a few times. In an interview with the Table Talk podcast, Marie revealed that she had to deal with a lot of trouble because of the Apex Predator.
Marie said that she felt bad for Orton because he had his financial challenges and he didn’t have a room. She wasn’t even sure if Orton was lying about the room part. However, Dawn Marie being kind, told Randy Orton that he could sleep in her chair. This came with a steep real-life stipulation for the Legend Killer.
Dawn Marie made it very clear that if Randy tried to come anywhere close to her bed, she would kill the Apex Predator. She confessed to letting Randy sleep a couple of different nights in the chair. Marie further added that back in the early days of the 21st century, it was a strict taboo for a man to be in a woman’s room at night, and if someone had seen Orton coming out of the room, and the speculations about the couple dating took center stage.
So I felt bad for him, you know, because he was broke. […] So I was like, ‘Randy, okay, fine. You can sleep on the chair in my room!’ And I was like, ‘If you come anywhere near my bed, I swear to God I’m gonna kill you.’
Dawn Marie’s early days in ECW highlighted her wrestling flair, and by the time she arrived in WWE, things got better for her. Much to her surprise, though, her WWE career was cut short, following which she filed a lawsuit against the company for wrongful termination. That lawsuit shed light on how women wrestlers were treated back in the day.
Where is Randy Orton now?
Randy Orton continues to perform in WWE and is one of the most talked about on the road to WrestleMania 41. He is already involved in a heated rivalry with Kevin Owens, which will see him battle KO at The Show of Shows this year.
The Apex Predator’s run in WrestleMania has been mainly as a heel, and that has somehow turned him into the springboard for other superstars. Apart from his matches against CM Punk and Seth Rollins at Mania, his other bouts have seen him falter and other superstars rise to stardom. Despite his losses, he continued to deliver significant storylines, one of which would obviously be against Bray Wyatt, where the fans were hooked until the last moment.
With all being said, Orton’s legendary stature in the WWE continues to build, and the Legend Killer has been downright impressive. Ever since his return from injury, he has been a babyface, and with Kevin Owens up against him, there is a high chance that the lines will be blurred when their match happens at the Showcase of Immortals in Las Vegas this year.
