Heads up, Supergirl fans! A new report on the upcoming movie claimed it will not disappoint and will live up to the high expectations, just as we’ve all been anticipating from James Gunn’s DC Universe.
With House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock gracing the project, it will reintroduce a new version of Superman’s famed cousin Kara Zor-El, a character we have met in The CW’s Supergirl and 2023’s The Flash. According to an insider, this one is something you should not miss.
Script for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is reportedly “amazing”
Industry scooper Daniel Richtman revealed in a post on X/Twitter what he’s heard about the script of the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie. Those involved in the project have allegedly told him that they liked what they saw during the production, which commenced in January this year and wrapped up in May.
I heard the Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow script is amazing and people on set told me that based on what they saw it's gonna be a treat.

If the rumors are true, then it lives up to James Gunn’s previous statement about writer Ana Nogueira doing an excellent job with the writing. Back in November 2023, the boss of DC Studios wrote a hearty post about his excitement working with the scribe. “Ana is an amazing writer whose screenplay adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow is above and beyond anything I hoped it would be,” he penned in an Instagram post. He also teased fans that the story is going to be a unique take on Supergirl.
As the project is slated to arrive in cinemas in 2026, this exciting update also reveals that it will have enough time, one year to be exact, dedicated to post-production. Gunn assured fans that it will be different from the previous iterations we’ve seen on the screen and will make sure to highlight the heroine’s different upbringing compared to Clark Kent.
The insider’s note also suggests that Gunn made the right call to cast Milly Alcock for the titular role. He said that the actress was his first choice to play Supergirl after watching her epic performance in House of the Dragon. Now, we will see how well the Australian star would fare in the superhero genre after her stint in the fantasy show.
Milly Alcock’s Supergirl will appear in the Superman movie
Alcock’s Supergirl is confirmed to make her screen debut in David Corenswet’s Superman, as per The Hollywood Reporter. It is unknown how big her part will be in the reboot movie, but we can expect that she will make an unforgettable appearance there.
Kara Zor-El is often considered a lesser character in the world of DC, especially compared to her cousin, but Gunn’s version may very well change that and give her a proper storyline that would highlight her importance in the franchise.
The new Supergirl movie has yet to receive its official trailer as production just recently concluded. Fans may have to wait a bit before the studio gives us a glimpse of the upcoming movie.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
