Ever since its release in January 2026, Highguard has been fighting tooth and nail to make space for itself in the already crowded FPS shooter space. To support the ongoing rally of new players coming into the game, developer Wildlight Entertainment has now released a massive Episode 2 update, which comes with a lot of changes, but none of them address the same issue that plagued Apex Legends.

The release of Episode 2 comes as part of a bigger commitment to several episodes that the studio promised earlier (via PCGamesN). However, players right now care more about getting lobbies without any cheaters in them.

There is little mention of the matchmaking mechanics of the game, and none of them say anything about the ongoing issues of lobbies filled with cheaters, unlike what fans would have liked to see.
Highguard Episode 2 Update: What’s in it for Hackers
Following the trend, Highguard is a free-to-play FPS shooter. This fact comes in handy when it’s time to start figuring out why there is such a large number of hackers present. Potentially, the ease of access to new accounts makes it so that even after a ban, these bad agents dive right into a new match with another account.
To their credit, there are quality-of-life improvements and fresh content for players in the latest Highguard Episode 2 update. Unfortunately, it fails to make up for the fact that the core complaint about the matchmaking has gone unaddressed.

To answer the question, there is simply nothing about hackers. It is the biggest complaint about Highguard so far, and there has been no mention of even a future update where the developers might finally dive into the issue.
New Additions and Changes in Highguard Episode 2 Update
As mentioned before, while there is nothing to suggest developers are planning to deal with the notorious cheaters in the game, to their credit, Wildlight Entertainment has certainly brought forward some fresh content for players to enjoy.
Episode 2’s most eye-catching additions aim to freshen up Highguard’s core loop and give both new and returning players something to explore. According to the official patch notes, the update includes:
- A new playable Warden named Ekon with aggressive tracking abilities.
- A brand-new map called Skydrift.
- A much-awaited Ranked Mode, which starts with a 3v3 format.
- Extensive UI improvements, HUD tweaks, new stats, and quality-of-life enhancements.
There are also other tweaks made to the game that are worth noting. This includes reduced Defensive Phase duration, improved zipline mechanics, and more such changes that help improve Highguard’s stability and player experience.
Some of the changes in the latest patch notes also directly deal with fixing performance issues, and while it is uncertain to say if they have been fixed 100%, it’s a start. Highguard’s Episode 2 is one of the most significant content drops the developers will ever make, given the game’s fresh release, and if not now, players hope that Wildlight Entertainment will soon look into making quick work of cheaters ruining lobbies.
