In Monster Hunter Wilds, hunters face dangerous threats as they progress through High Rank, and Optional Quests offer some of the toughest and most rewarding challenges in the game. One of those quests is Proof of a Hero, which stands out as a test of skill, preparation, and endurance.
This high-difficulty quest pushes players to their limits with multiple Arch-Tempered monsters and valuable exclusive rewards, making it one of the most sought-after hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Unlock Requirements of the Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
To unlock the Proof of a Hero quest, you must first reach Hunter Rank 100, as the quest is only available to players at HR 100 and above. After that, the first major requirement is completing the 10-star permanent event quest “Freedom from Solitude,” where you must defeat Arch-Tempered Arkveld.
After that, you need to clear three 9-star Special Environment Optional Quests:
- Tango of Lives Ablaze
- Serenade of Scarlet Water
- The Wind ’n’ Sand Blues
All of these three quests are triple-hunt missions unlocked at HR 100. Once these conditions are met, you need to go and speak to your Handler, Alma, to have Proof of a Hero appear in your Optional Quest list.
Players joining online must also meet these requirements, and joining mid-quest via SOS may prevent you from receiving the exclusive Nameplate reward.
After completing the quest, it rewards you with the following things:
- A unique Nameplate “Tempered Tales: Four Forbidden Kings
- The exclusive “Pride and Joy” Pendant (claimable from Alma)
- Zenny
- 5,000 Guild Points
- Gamma Certificates
- Timeworn Charms with a high chance of Rarity 7–8 talismans
- Battle-Tempered Emblems (used for reinforcing Gogma Artian weapons and other upgrades).
What to Expect in Proof of a Hero
Proof of a Hero quest takes place in the Wounded Hollow and wants you to hunt and slay four Arch-Tempered monsters in succession:
- Arch-Tempered Rey Dau
- Arch-Tempered Uth Duna
- Arch-Tempered Nu Udra
- Arch-Tempered Arkveld
These monsters appear one after another as the current target nears defeat. Since they can damage each other, strategic players can use these overlapping fights to their advantage by making them hit each other. The only restriction is the 50-minute time limit (in total for the fight).
Since the quest is all about the fight, it is recommended to use good elemental matchups: Ice for Rey Dau, Thunder for Uth Duna, Water for Nu Udra, and Dragon for Arkveld.
Another effective method to take them down is the Paralysis build. With four powerful enemies back-to-back, optimized gear and elemental coverage are key to successfully completing one of the toughest Optional Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds.
