Crimson Desert is full of hidden puzzles and secrets. Pearl Abyss has given us hidden ruins, environmental challenges, and clever puzzles in the game’s massive open world that reward you for exploring beyond the main story.
The ancient ruin puzzles are one such optional challenge. There are a ton of these around Pywel, and today we’ll be looking at the Screaming Vault Ruins puzzle, a crypt-like ruin tucked away in the Demeniss region.
Has anyone found The Screaming Vault?

A lot of the ancient ruins puzzles seem confusing at first, especially with their cryptic murals and scattered clues. But once you understand the basics of these puzzles, the solution doesn’t seem so hard. Pearl Abyss did well in that aspect.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find the Screaming Vault and exactly how to solve its puzzle, including both the intended solution and the direct solution if you want to skip exploration.
Screaming Vault Puzzle Location in Crimson Desert

You’ll find the Screaming Vault in the Demeniss region, surrounded by farmland, ruins, and hidden secrets. You’ll find the puzzle south of the main road near the Golden Plains, not too far from Demeniss Castle and surrounding farms.
Look for a cluster of abandoned or ruined buildings along a dead-end stretch of road. Among all these buildings, you’ll find one with an opening or ladder leading underground. This entrance takes you into the Screaming Vault itself.
Once inside, be ready for danger. The vault is more than just a puzzle room. It’s also a trap-filled dungeon. In the room, you’ll find::
- Pressure plates that trigger spikes from the ground
- Arrow traps that fire from the walls in timed intervals
The safest way through is to wait for the traps to activate, then sprint across while they reset. Moving too slowly or trying to sneak through can quickly drain your health.
After dodging these traps, you’ll reach a main chamber with a locked Abyss Artifact pedestal and three branching paths. This is where the puzzle begins.
How to Solve the Screaming Vault Puzzle in Crimson Desert

To solve the Screaming Vault puzzle, you need to solve three rotating discs in separate side rooms (left, center, and right). Each disc has a unique pattern, and you have to rotate them so their symbols are correctly aligned.
Each disc can be turned in either direction, and the hints for the correct orientation can be found outside the vault. These symbols appear on scarecrows scattered across nearby farmland, which are the clues.
Inside the vault, you’ll also find a mural hinting at these locations, pointing you toward fields in the surrounding area such as Furlington Farm and Stonewell Farm. If you follow the clues, you’ll notice:
- Each scarecrow displays one of the puzzle symbols
- The orientation of the symbol on the scarecrow indicates how the corresponding disc should be positioned
This means the “intended” solution involves exploring the area, locating all three scarecrows, and then returning to align the discs accordingly.
However, since the solution does not change between playthroughs, you can skip the exploration entirely and set the discs directly.
Direct Puzzle Solution (All Disc Alignments)
If you want to solve the puzzle immediately, here’s how to position each disc:
- Left Disc:
Rotate it so that the line extending from the central circle points straight upward, like the 12 o’clock position. - Center Disc:
Adjust it until the circular swirl or constellation pattern sits at the top, with triangular shapes positioned at the bottom. - Right Disc:
Turn it so that the circular symbols are aligned above the triangular ones, or until the pattern appears upright and balanced.
Once all three discs are correctly oriented, the mechanism will activate automatically. A short sequence will play, and the central pedestal will unlock.
Rewards and Extra Loot
After you solve the puzzle, the Abyss Cresset will activate, and you’ll get:
- Abyss Artifact x1
- A new fast travel point
Before leaving, you can find additional items in the rooms. While there are no unique legendary items, you can find:
- Treasure chests
- Crafting materials
- Sellable valuables like jewelry and artwork
These items can add up to a decent amount of currency when sold, making the vault worth clearing completely.
This is one of many ruin puzzles in Crimson Desert, and it’s a nice approach to environmental storytelling. Which puzzle is your favorite in Crimson Desert? Let us know in the comments!
