Hollywood actor Beau Starr passed away on April 24 in Vancouver, Canada. His brother Mike Starr, also an actor, confirmed the news to TMZ and shared that he died of natural causes. Beau Starr was not only an actor, but he was also a professional football player who played for the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League.
Starr was best known for his roles in the Halloween series and Goodfellas. He also made his acting debut on television on the sketch entertainment show, Bizarre, in 1979. After his football career, Starr went on to appear in a play at the American Theater of Actors in 1980. He appeared in many popular TV shows of the time, including Three’s Company, The A-Team, The Fall Guy, and Highway to Heaven.
Beau Starr’s first credited role in a feature film came in Gene Wilder’s 1982 comedy, Hanky Panky. He went on to appear in Steve Martin’s The Lonely Guy, Clint Eastwood & Burt Reynolds’ City Heat, Chevy Chase’s Fletch, and Mark Harmon’s Summer School. Here are all the popular movies he appeared in.
1. The Halloween Franchise (1988-89)

He first joined the Halloween franchise in the 1988 movie, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. He portrayed Sheriff Ben Meeker, whom he reprised in the sequel, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. In the fourth movie, Meeker teams up with Dr. Loomis to protect young Jamie Lloyd from Michael Myers. His authoritative presence as Haddonfield’s frontline defender became popular among fans of the franchise.
2. Goodfellas (1990)

Starr played the father of Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s gangster drama, Goodfellas. He was portrayed as an abusive figure in Henry’s life. His character is seen beating Henry in the few scenes that he appears in, and the brutal domestic violence eventually shaped the future mobster’s worldview.
3. Speed (1994)

In Keany Reeves’ Speed, Starr played the police commissioner. His role was smaller than some of his other credits, playing a part of the response team to the movie’s crisis. But it indicated that he fit squarely into the authoritative law enforcement figure in his movies and TV shows.
4. Born on the Fourth of July (1989)

In Tom Cruise’s Born on the Fourth of July, Starr appeared in a bar scene set at Arthur’s Bar. He was credited as Man #2. Interestingly, he appeared in the scene alongside his actor brother Mike Starr, who was credited as Man #1.
5. Devil in a Blue Dress (1995)

Starr played Detective Jack Miller in Denzel Washington’s critically acclaimed neo-noir movie, Devil in a Blue Dress. Starr’s character, along with his partner Detective Mason, interrogates and roughs up Washington’s character, portraying the racial hostility of the era’s police force. It was another strong entry in Starr’s long history of playing law enforcement characters.
