As the MCU fans know Hayley Atwell has been a part of a number of Marvel Cinematic Universe projects such as Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier Avengers: Endgame, Agent Carter, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the actress was outstanding in each film, her personal ambitions were not taken care of by the superhero franchise, as they decided to not give her any memorable action sequence.
Though she portrayed the role of Captain Carter in the 2022 Doctor Strange sequel, her action scene was short live as Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlett Witch killed her without breaking a sweat. In the MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, Sarah Halley Finn recalls her first meeting with Hayley Atwell, who had shared her intention of being a superspy and how she “really wanted to kick some a**.”

So knowing, they have that willingness is great, but it’s never been a requirement. It’s been about ‘Let’s find the person who makes this character come to life.'”
However, the Black Mirror actress’ dream came true, when she joined Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible franchise, where her dream of “kicking some a**” came true, as she stepped into her biggest role as she had waited 17 years for this moment.

Hayley Atwell’s performance in Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, was one of the key attractions of the film. Her portrayal of Grace, a thief was the center of the film as she stole a key that is required by Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt as well as The Entity, a rogue artificial intelligence. Her character displayed all sorts of emotions from play, and joy to fear and guilt, Atwell made sure her portrayal was flawless in the film.
During an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Christopher Robin actress shared that wanted to give her best performance to date as the franchise has given her the “trust and the platform.” She went on to express her gratitude to Cruise and everyone involved in making the film, as she was surprised by the quality of filmmaking which she had never been a part of before.
“I was finally given the trust and the platform … to show more range and to show more emotional depth in a franchise or something of this size, which I hadn’t been afforded before. And so I have this eternal gratitude to Tom and to McQ, who provided the resources and the support system every day on set so that I could thrive. It’s been a deliverance of a long time coming. After 17 years in this industry, I’ve finally been able to do something at this level, with this quality of filmmaking, and I’d never been afforded that before.”
The actress’ scenes led to some vital moments in the sequel, and it is her scenes that make the movie more intriguing to watch, as she and Cruise had intense as well as hilarious moments that created a distinctive, interesting, thrilling action scene.
