Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone Tried to ‘Derail’ Each Other’s Career!
Arnold Schwarzenegger recently appeared on the BBC chat show with Graham Norton, and as first reported by NME, he spoke in detail about his relationship with Sylvester Stallone on camera. Initially, the actors, who began their careers in the industry around the same time, didn’t see eye to eye. However, upon further inspection, it was revealed that the two were cut from the same fabric. On the show, he revealed,
“We were movie rivals, but we took the competitiveness to the extreme – we each had to have the best body, we had to kill more people in our films, and we had to have the biggest guns. It got out of control, and we tried to derail each other.”
From violently competing against each other for the same roles to attacking each other and putting them on blast in front of the press, the media also couldn’t get enough of their rivalry. Although it seemed like they could never form a friendship, that fact was later proven wrong as the two grew closer.
This Brought the Two Rivals Closer!
In the later years, they went on to star in several movies together, which brought them closer. However, initially, it was their joint venture, named Planet Hollywood, that solidified their friendship. The restaurant chain, with the help of the two stars, skyrocketed, and so did their affection for each other. In the same chat show, Schwarzenegger further revealed,
“Then, when we both invested in Planet Hollywood, we started flying around the world together to promote it and we became fantastic friends. He is a great human being, and we are now inseparable.”
They then proceeded to collaborate in films like Escape Plan and The Expendables, with the latter turning into an immensely successful franchise, nearly reaching a billion dollars in earnings. Since then, the two have truly become inseparable.
From publicly criticizing each other to seeking advice from one another before making any significant career moves, they have come a long way indeed.
