“I’m still alive”: Harrison Ford Will Return to Yellowstone Universe if Taylor Sheridan Agrees to His One Condition
Harrison Ford might’ve rocked the 1923 prequel like a pro, but he’s not done with the Yellowstone universe, at least not if Taylor Sheridan plays ball. Ford’s down for a return, but there’s one simple condition: it better be worth his time. He’s not here for filler.
At 80+, the man’s still riding strong, and if Sheridan can deliver the goods, we might just see Ford saddle up again for another round of Dutton drama. Now that’s star power – aging like fine whiskey.
Harrison Ford eyes Yellowstone return with one catch
Harrison Ford isn’t hanging up his cowboy hat just yet. The 1923 star made it clear: Jacob Dutton could return to the Yellowstone-verse but only if Taylor Sheridan agreed to one thing. “If he asks nice,” Ford quipped at a 1923 FYC event in LA, before adding, “I have no idea what his plans are.”
While most fans celebrated May the 4th with lightsabers, Ford was busy talking spurs and storytelling. The 1923 Season 2 finale might’ve tied things up tightly, but Ford isn’t closing the book just yet. He alluded,
I thought it was very tight storytelling and I was absolutely delighted with it. It’s probably the densest script and work that I’ve had a chance to work on in a long, long time.
And yes, he survived. So did Helen Mirren’s Cara Dutton, which even surprised her. “I was convinced I was going to die,” she joked. The finale saw Spencer and Alex’s baby born, possibly linking directly to Yellowstone’s John Dutton III (Kevin Costner), though Sheridan hasn’t confirmed it yet.
Mirren called the ending “an interesting concept,” with a baby’s future now in the hands of aging grandparents. And with TS rumored to be cooking up 1944, the next prequel, all eyes are on what happens next.
Would Ford and Mirren show up again, maybe in flashbacks? And fans aren’t ruling out a ghost cameo for Julia Schlaepfer’s Alex either. Ford, reflecting on the show’s moral complexity, added,
I thought it was an opportunity to really invest in a very complicated characterization, because this is not a hero. This is a complicated man who does some bad shit and then goes on with his life. And I think that’s a very interesting kind of character to play, and not one that frequently comes my way.
The West ain’t done with Jacob Dutton. All it takes is one nice ask from Sheridan.
Harrison Ford gears up for final role as he plans Hollywood exit
Harrison Ford is ready to hang up the hat and the blaster. The Indiana Jones and Star Wars icon has announced plans to retire from Hollywood, with Captain America: Brave New World likely being his final curtain call.
At 82, Ford isn’t chasing box office hits anymore. During an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he alluded,
I want to finish what I’m doing, I’d like to spend more time flying; like to spend more time with my family at home. I have things in my life outside of movies.
His next and possibly last role would be General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the MCU, stepping in for the late William Hurt. But don’t expect a long franchise run; Ford’s exit seems near.
After Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny stumbled at the box office, insiders say Ford took it hard. Add a few recent career bumps, and it’s no surprise he’s ready to call it. Still, he’s walking out on his own terms.
