Rom-com fans are about to eat real good in the upcoming Summer 2025 anime season. Alongside some of the most anticipated new-gen Shonen IPs returning with their sequels, a truckload of highly acclaimed rom-com series are also getting fresh adaptations. What’s reassuring, though, is that CloverWorks is behind all these projects.
After a successful run of Wind Breaker season 2, the studio’s popularity got a significant boost. The typical weeb community, however, has always been aware of their iconic works. There are some key details that you might notice in their works that give fans all the more hope. But won’t they get a bit overworked in this upcoming anime season?
Studio CloverWorks is at risk of overworking its employees!
CloverWorks is known for its exceptional consistency throughout entire seasons of anime. No matter how big or small a project they take on, they put equal effort into each. Their previous works, such as The Promised Neverland, Spy x Family, and Black Butler, all look so polished and have still been released on schedule so far.

But Summer 2025 might be the season that they face a surreal amount of pressure on them. They’ll be working simultaneously on 3 big-time rom-com series, and each is scheduled for the same day release. Although there hasn’t been a single exception where CloverWorks has dropped its quality, can they maintain their legacy even now?

This surely sounds exciting for all the rom-com/slice-of-life fans out there, but doesn’t this also raise concerns about the studio’s overall performance? We’ve already seen how Studio MAPPA got bombarded with criticism for overworking their employees, and now that might be the case for CloverWorks!
Summer 2025 Saturdays would essentially turn into Romcom/CloverWorks days!
The lineup is stacked, and there’s no arguing that. Series like My Dress-up Darling and Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus (Bunny Girl Senpai sequel) are making their grand return in the upcoming Summer 2025 anime season. And if that wasn’t already enough, we also have arguably the most hyped rom-com of 2025 releasing next month.
It’s none other than The Fragrant Flowers Bloom with Dignity. The community has long been waiting for this series to be announced as an anime, and after that, it was only a waiting game till it releases. And quite unexpectedly, all three of them are scheduled to be released on each Saturday and by the same CloverWorks studio.
What’s interesting, though, is that Akebi Sailor Uniform and Dress-up Darling aired at the same time three and a half years ago. Now, those same two teams at CloverWorks are up against each other again, with The Fragrant Flowers Bloom with Dignity being the show from the Akebi Sailor Uniform team.
Now, this all comes down to how consistent the studio can be. Even though the teams must have been divided for each of the three projects, the risk of overworking their employees still remains. It’d be a shame if we get any underwhelming performance compared to their previous works. But that’s quite unlikely to happen. CloverWorks would never make such a blunder, right?
Wind Breaker Season 2 is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
