‘Superman’ Star Cast as Tony Tony Chopper in Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 Also Played One of MCU’s Saddest Roles

Well, it seems that everyone attached to James Gunn’s Superman has been getting a rise in their Hollywood career, as Mikaela Hoover found herself voicing an iconic character in a Netflix show.

With the live-action adaptation of One Piece finding worldwide fame and acclaim when it aired on Netflix in 2023, the show was renewed for a second season, and in the recently aired Netflix TUDUM event, a promo of One Piece Season 2 showed the iconic character of Tony Tony Chopper talking about the show!

Superman actress is also a part of the One Piece season 2!

Mikaela Hoover, who has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before, is also a part of James Gunn’s DCU as she will be appearing in the upcoming film, Superman.

Portraying the role of Cat Grant in James Gunn’s Superman opened the door for Mikaela Hoover to limitless possibilities, as the Netflix TUDUM event announced the arrival of One Piece Season 2.

A video was shared on Instagram and all the social media platforms, wherein the iconic character of Tony Tony Chopper was seen talking about the upcoming season. The wholesome and cute video quickly went viral as fans understood that Netflix would not disappoint this time as well.

Well, this cute little character is voiced by Mikaela Hoover, and the clip looks quite promising. Some of the most hardcore fans of One Piece (the anime) will also be watching the live-action version.

However, this isn’t the first time that Mikaela Hoover has voiced the role of a cute possum-like creature. The actress has also been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and worked with James Gunn before) for what could be considered as one of the saddest roles in the MCU.

Mikaela Hoover also voiced Floor in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!

It seems that Hoover has worked extensively with James Gunn since she portrayed the role of Nova Prime’s assistant in Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014 and had a minor role in The Suicide Squad (2021), Superman (2025), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)!

Fans may remember that Floor was a childlike character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 who was essentially the cellmate to Rocket Raccoon back when the High Evolutionary was experimenting on them.

When Rocket’s partner dies, he lets out a wail and attacks the High Evolutionary while Floor asks him to run and be free. In his anger, Rocket doesn’t listen, and in the crossfire, Floor loses her life.

The iconic dialogue of Floor asking Rocket Raccoon to play with her in the cell becomes the stuff of nightmares when a shot of Floor’s lifeless body is seen in the 2023 movie.

Although this makes Mikaela Hoover’s character one of the saddest in the MCU, we are glad that the actress has been doing well with Superman and now… One Piece!

At the Netflix TUDUM event, it was announced that One Piece Season 2 will be released sometime in 2026 as the Straw Hats will sail towards the Grand Line in the upcoming episodes.

On the other hand, Superman will release theatrically on 11 July 2025 (USA).
