The Resident Evil franchise’s next mainline game after Resident Evil 9: Requiem might be further than you think. According to trusted industry insider Dusk Golem (also known as AestheticGamer), Resident Evil 10 has reportedly been in development since 2022, has been delayed internally, and is now targeting a 2029 release.
While we have to take this information with a grain of salt, the leaked information also hints at the franchise’s future as a whole. While we’re still waiting in full hype mode for the Requiem release, the franchise might go through a big change in direction afterward.
Resident Evil is Taking A New Direction After Requiem

The latest leak, shared by @RinoTheBouncer on X and attributed to Dusk Golem, suggests that Capcom’s internal development roadmap has undergone a quiet reshuffle. According to the leak, Resident Evil 10 reportedly began development in 2022 and underwent a development reboot at some point over the past two years.

The insider also states that the new timeline has the game arriving “around 2029,” following the launches of the Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica remakes. These two titles are both fan favorites from the pre-RE4 era, and Capcom is reportedly prioritizing them after the upcoming release of Resident Evil 9: Requiem.
It’s worth noting that these claims do coincide with the upcoming Resident Evil: Requiem launch, which is scheduled to release on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Dusk Golem has also described Requiem as “a game of endings and beginnings,” hinting that Resident Evil 10 might be a full reboot of the franchise’s timeline once Umbrella’s legacy is concluded.
(2/3) someone else, the usual. But they're to neglect I've been saying for a while now that RE9 is a game of endings & beginnings, that this was going to be Leon's send-off (in the timeline as a main character, I'm sure he'll be in future stuff backwards in the timeline).

Capcom’s internal strategy seems deliberate. By closing out the current saga, the studio can create a clean slate for RE10 while still having options in older stories through remakes. Requiem will close out the storylines we’ve followed for both Leon S. Kennedy and the Umbrella Corporation, signaling the end of an era for the series.
The Long Road to Resident Evil 10
Capcom’s confidence in its remakes is understandable. The company is enjoying what we can describe as a creative renaissance that has been driven by critical and commercial hits across nearly every major IP. From Street Fighter 6 to this year’s Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has a lot of good things going for it.
If Dusk Golem’s timeline is true, Resident Evil 10 won’t arrive until 2029, a full three years after Requiem. That may seem distant, but Capcom’s measured pace is nothing new to us at this point. Especially with modern AAA development cycles stretching beyond five years, the company’s patience could pay off.
(3/3) That this was going to be the end of Umbrella's legacy for good timeline wise, & all of this I don't think anyone was claiming or speaking about as far as I know. And when that all turns out true, I'm curious how people respond. Because I've said more than just Leon is in.

By the time RE10 launches, the series will have celebrated nearly three decades of survival horror history. The possibility of Capcom going back to Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica is also something a lot of us will look forward to. Then the rumored Resident Evil 1 remake, reportedly planned after RE10, suggests that Capcom may be preparing to retell the story from the ground up for a new generation.
While fans eagerly await confirmation, it’s clear that Resident Evil’s future is both reflective and forward-looking. With Requiem marking the symbolic end of the old guard and Resident Evil 10 positioned to redefine what comes next, Capcom appears to be charting a carefully balanced path between honoring the past and shaping the next era of horror.
Until then, Resident Evil fans have plenty to look forward to in the near future. Are you going to be playing Resident Evil 9: Requiem when it comes out? Let us know in the comments!
