The good news is that clearing your name is fairly simple once you understand how the system works. Here’s how to get rid of bounties and pay fines in Pearl Abyss‘ Crimson Desert.
How Bounties Work in Crimson Desert
In Crimson Desert, every crime you commit triggers a visible warning system. There will be a red radius around your character, signaling that nearby NPCs can report your actions. If you leave that area before anyone alerts the guards, you can avoid any punishment.

However, if you get spotted or reported, a bounty will be issued for you. You’ll see a notification showing your offense and the amount you need to pay. From that point on, guards in that specific region will recognize you and attempt to arrest you on sight.
Even if you manage to escape, the bounty doesn’t disappear on its own. It remains active in that region until you deal with it. On top of that, your actions can also affect your regional reputation (Contribution), which will affect how you unlock rewards and gear.
How to Get Rid of Bounties and Pay Fines
There are two main ways to clear a bounty or fine in Crimson Desert. You can either pay it off through a church or serve time in jail. Both ways ultimately remove your bounty, but they work a little differently.
The easy option is to visit a church or confessional. You can find them all around the world, usually in major towns like Hernand, Demeniss, or Delesia. Inside, you’ll find a priest or church representative who offers a Writ of Absolution.
This option lets you pay off all your crimes instantly. The cost will depend on your total bounty or fines, and once paid, your record is cleared immediately. You can also find Confessionals on the map, making them relatively easy to find. Just keep in mind that some locations may only become accessible after progressing through the story.
If you don’t want to, or can’t, pay upfront, there’s another way to clear your bounty. And that is to surrender to the guards. Let them catch you without resisting, and you’ll be sent to jail. After serving your sentence, your bounty will be cleared just like if you had paid it.
So all that matters is whether you have the money for it. If you don’t have enough money to pay for a confession, you’ll go into debt. Any money you earn afterward will automatically be deducted until the debt is fully repaid.
