After Mark was left half-disemboweled, it seemed like our hero was not going to live up to the Invincible moniker. However, Invincible Season 4 Episode 6 — “You Look Horrible” — uses Mark’s recovery to catch up with and develop other characters. How will Nolan and Oliver protect their family? Can Allen and Tech Jacket get off the Viltrumite ship? Worse, is there a plan for fighting off Thragg? All of this comes to the forefront in “You Look Horrible.”
Invincible Season 4 Episode 6 Recap
Thaedus (Peter Cullen) and Thragg (Lee Pace) give speeches for why they are going to win the war at hand. Thragg believes the surge virus made them invincible, and Thaedus believes their side has finally discovered ways to defeat Viltrumites. Soldiers move into position, and war begins across the galaxy. As the battles commence, Thragg seems to speak to a skull in his office. He promises that he will not fail to stop Thaedus’ plans.

Stuck on the planet in the aftermath of Mark’s battle with Conquest, Nolan (J.K. Simmons) watches over Oliver (Christian Convery). Nolan sets up a grave for Conquest, which angers Oliver. He is scared for Mark, and he wants to get his brother to a doctor as soon as possible. Nolan tells Oliver it is not safe to move him now, and they may need to wait months.
General Kregg (Clancy Brown) calls Lucan (Phil LaMarr) and Kradd (Andrew Morgado) to divert their forces. They will intercept a Coalition ship, which Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) realizes could be the only way for him and Tech Jacket (Zoey Deutch) to survive. They play video games while the ship takes them to their destinations.
Nolan fights monsters on the planet to train up for a future Viltrumite attack. He uses his latest foe as a meal for himself and Oliver. The boy feeds his brother but refuses to eat the food his father hunts. The next morning, Nolan tells Oliver they need to train if they’re going to have so much time on their hands waiting for Mark. During the training, Oliver admits that he heard Nolan refer to his mother, Andressa, as a mistake. He asks if he was a mistake as well. Nolan apologizes and promises to be a better father, but Oliver does not want to hear it.
Allen and Tech Jacket arrive at the planet on the Viltrumite ship. They see the coalition ships on the horizon and try to make a run for it. However, while en route, the Viltrumites chase after them. Allen throws the Tech Jacket to the ships and tries to hold off the Viltrumites. Allen gets beaten by Kradd and Lucan, who are ready to deliver a killing blow. However, Tech Jacket arrives with Space Racer (Winston Duke), who shoots Kradd with a shot of his “unstoppable gun.” It kills him and destroys the Viltrumite ship. Lucan flies away from the battle and returns to Viltrum.
On the planet, Nolan tries to bond with Oliver, but his son will not listen. They go out on a mission to find Mark protein after realizing the “goo” is not providing him with enough sustenance. They find a monster’s eggs, and together they take it down. While Nolan wants to kill the creature, Oliver stops. He cares for life and reminds Nolan that she cannot lay more eggs if it’s dead. As they discuss, the creature escapes.
Tech Jacket and Allen finally return to Talescria, where the alien reunites with Telia (Tatiana Maslany). They also discovered that Battle Beast (Michael Dorn) had arrived but refused to help until he spoke with Allen. He invites him into the war. Tech Jacket and Allen discover that Nolan, Oliver, and Mark have not returned, but they remind everyone that they would not die so easily.

Months later, Nolan and Oliver finally start to bond over Andressa. Nolan apologizes for the way he spoke about Oliver’s mother, telling his son that his mother brought him back from the darkness. In the months that follow, Nolan trains up Oliver while the war rages in the stars. Mark finally starts to get better but is still not awake.
Thragg is briefed by Kregg about Thaedus’ allies in the fight, most importantly Allen, Tech Jacket, Space Racer, and Battle Beast. He asks Kregg why they have not thought about attacking Talescria, and while Kregg expresses his fears at first, he eventually laments. After Kregg leaves, it is revealed Thragg is speaking to the Viltrum Emperor’s skull. Nolan and Oliver return to their home base and discover Mark is missing. He has wandered down to Conquest’s grave, crying because he thought it was Oliver’s. When his family reunites, they hug and prepare to leave.
Thaedus preaches to the Coalition, reminding them that the deaths they’ve experienced are to secure the gains they’ve made in the war. However, Thragg attacks Talescria, having recruited members of the Coalition to turn off the security system. The building explodes, killing many inside as Viltrimites attack civilians on the planet. Allen fights Lucen while Thaedus does battle with Kregg. Tech Jacket starts to lose her armor when Mark, Nolan, and Oliver return to the battle.
Nolan tells his sons to be careful while fighting Viltrum slaves, because these soldiers can be turned to their cause. Oliver and Mark take down the Viltrumite ship in the sky, stopping it from causing more damage to the surface. As the ship collapses, Thragg chases after the Emperor’s skull as it falls to the planet. He calls his Viltrumites back to him, and they leave the planet with six of their soldiers.
While Mark and Oliver stopped the initial ship, it fell toward the planet. Together, the heroes work to hold up each end of the split ship, with Mark, Thaedus, and Allen lifting one half while Nolan, Oliver, and Tech Jacket lift the other. They throw the broken ship pieces into space and begin helping with search and rescue.
The Coalition discovers the mole is a Data Twin. They reveal that all of the Viltrumites are being called home. Thaedus realizes they can attack Viltrum now, forcing the remaining soldiers of the Empire to scatter. For a brief moment, we are shown the grave of Conquest, as if Conquest is going to rise from the dead (again). Instead, it cuts away to the dust blowing in the desert.
Was Invincible Season 4 Episode 6 “You Look Horrible” worth watching?
Yes, “You Look Horrible” is a fun Invincible episode that speeds us through the monotony of a war plot while also giving Mark time to heal. While the two months of war footage could have presented intriguing possibilities in terms of story, the show is not about that. By keeping us focused on Nolan, Oliver, and Mark, the series gets us through the day-to-day of the war and gives us enough information to understand why a Viltrum attack on the Coalition home planet made sense at this time.

Invincible has always been about Mark and his family, and giving Oliver real time with Nolan was a much-needed fix. “You Look Horrible” also gives the young hero opportunities to level up through training, making it an easy “yada yada” part for the future. Oliver now has new abilities and strengths that make him an asset rather than a liability to the team. If nothing else, “You Look Horrible” allows us to jump right back into the action, rather than wait for a new season to give us an update on Mark’s status.
Nolan’s emotional depth is important to explore in “You Look Horrible.” The character has drastically changed, and bonding time with Oliver helps show him as a complete father. The words about Oliver’s mother were undeniably harsh last week, and this also gives him an emotional connection with his second son. Invincible also gets a great J.K. Simmons performance in “You Look Horrible,” which helps the show.
Considering how deep the Invincible cast has always been, it’s wild to see just how big the ensemble has become. Half of the MCU shows up in “You Look Horrible,” and this is not even all of the people who cross over into Invincible. That said, it’s great that Invincible can draw so many incredible voices and get actors to craft real performances instead of a paycheck gig.
Invincible Season 4 Episode 6 — “You Look Horrible” — released on April 8, 2026. Prime Video releases one new episode of Invincible a week.
