Marvel Studios skipped San Diego Comic-Con in 2025, which made its 2026 return feel like a big deal before anyone even walked into Hall H. The last time Kevin Feige stood on that stage in 2024, he pulled off the Robert Downey Jr. Doctor Doom reveal that fans still talk about.
So expectations were sky-high this year for Marvel SDCC. There were hopes for new footage from Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and updates on projects like Black Panther 3, X-Men reboot, and Avengers: Secret Wars. Surprisingly, we got a Ghost Rider casting that had been whispered about for months. Marvel delivered on almost all of it, though the X-Men and Secret Wars fans went home empty-handed this time.
Doom Masks and Herbie Welcomed Panelists at Marvel SDCC
Every single seat in Marvel’s Hall H got a Doctor Doom mask, handed out at the door. It suggested that Avengers: Doomsday was going to be the center of attention for this year’s Marvel SDCC panel. Then H.E.R.B.I.E., the little robot from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, rolled onto the stage as Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ played in the hall.
Herbie wheeled around the stage for some time before Kevin Feige took over the stage. Panelists also heard motorcycle revving in the background, which paid off hugely later.
Kevin Feige Took Fans Through Marvel History
The panel officially opened with a sizzle reel walking through the studio’s entire run. It started with Nick Fury’s line about pulling together a group of remarkable people, then moved through Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, and finished with Wolverine growling, “Let’s go.”
The X-Men section reportedly got the loudest reaction in the room. Feige made sure to hype Marvel Comics and its new Editor-in-Chief Stephen Wacker. He shared, “Without the comics, no MCU, no movies, no TV shows, no animation, nothing.” He talks about Marvel’s history in the SDCC Hall H, reminiscing about the first time the Avengers came together and 2024’s Doctor Doom reveal.
Feige Hypes Disney+ Show Vision Quest
Feige did sneak in exactly one television plug before moving on. He confirmed that Vision Quest, the Paul Bettany series centred on White Vision, lands on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. He described the show as the third entry in what Marvel internally calls the WandaVision trilogy, which is a neat way of framing it alongside WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Feige shared, “We’re very excited for that.”
Endgame Encore Will Have Exclusive Footage From Doomsday
The first proper announcement of the night was Endgame Encore, which is the title given for Avengers: Endgame re-release. The 2019 film returns to theatres on September 25, 2026, and Hall H got a trailer for the re-release. The important part is what’s attached. Feige confirmed the encore run will include brand-new footage setting up Avengers: Doomsday, so this nostalgia re-release is also a marketing launchpad.
Avengers: Doomsday Panel Confirms One More Cast Member
Marvel flipped the usual Hall H format when introducing the cast of Doomsday at Hall H. Instead of walking out from the front, the cast appeared on raised stages at the back of the room, one marked with an X and the other with the Avengers logo, who then walked through the entire hall high-fiving fans.
Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr. were among those who gathered for a group selfie. Downey Jr. shared on stage (via IGN):
God bless us all! I gotta tell you, it isn’t easy being green. I had a lot of help. I had this whole family around me to finally be an arch nemesis. Decisions will have to be made… you have to decide if you’re on the side of the good guys or (IN DOOM VOICE) you may consider the alternative of joining the family of Doom.
One surprise appearance was Hayley Atwell. The Doomsday segment confirmed that Atwell will be back as Peggy Carter. Fans have assumed this for a long time, especially with Evans returning, but Saturday was the first time Marvel said it out loud. What’s still unclear is whether she’s Peggy, Captain Carter, or someone else.
Avengers: Doomsday New Poster and Exclusive Footage
Marvel dropped a new Doomsday poster putting Doctor Doom front and centre, walking toward the camera in full armor. It is perhaps the best look at Downey’s version yet. The exclusive footage was the real highlight. It opens on Doom sitting on his throne with a green-lit floor beneath him, while Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm narrates.

She talks about knowing Victor was lost, but not realising how broken he actually was. She shared how he used to be kind and caring, before everything he loved was gone. Doom then declares that everyone around him has been living stolen lives and it’s time to hand them back. Reed Richards grabs him by the shirt, demanding answers.
Later in the footage, we see him command an army of dormant Sentinels, confirming the appearance of the X-Men supervillains. Then, there are shots featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
We Get Another Spider-Man: Brand New Day Clip Before July 31 Release
At one point, Jon Bernthal walked out unannounced to remind Feige that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is in theatres in less than a week. Bernthal introduced an exclusive clip built around the Punisher and Spider-Man teaming up against the Hulk, with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner in full smash mode.
That pairing alone tells you this movie will be rougher and more street-level than No Way Home. It was a short segment, but a smart one, coming just days before the July 31 release.
Ryan Reynolds Appears in New Deadpool Suit
During the Doomsday Q&A, someone in a Deadpool costume stood up in the audience looking for a microphone, only to reveal he already had one. It was Ryan Reynolds. He introduced himself as Ricky, claiming he was just cosplaying hard. He shared:
Longtime listener, first time caller. I’m a huge fan. I’m not wearing a Doom mask over this mask because I don’t want to ruin the lines of my Canadian tuxedo.
He then asked Paul Rudd where Thor was and why he was crying in Deadpool & Wolverine. Rudd shot back with a joke about Thor being a Wrexham fan, a dig at Reynolds’ own football club.

Reynolds then asked whether there was any additional photography left on Doomsday, which was about as unsubtle a pitch as you can make. It appears that he is now confirmed for a Doomsday appearance after this SDCC appearance.
The suit is the bigger story, though. It’s grey and black, and it has never appeared on screen. It looks straight out of the Uncanny X-Force comics.
Black Panther 3 Gets a Release Date
Marvel saved Wakanda for last. Ryan Coogler came out to confirm he’s directing a third Black Panther film, with Letitia Wright and Winston Duke joining him on stage. The movie is simply titled Black Panther 3, and it arrives in theatres on December 15, 2028.

That’s a long wait, and it means a six-year gap since Wakanda Forever. Denzel Washington is playing a major role in it, which the actor accidentally revealed some time back. They also confirmed one rumor about the movie. It is the first Black Panther movie since 2018 to actually have a Black Panther leading it.
David Jonsson Joins as Black Panther in Ryan Coogler’s Third Movie
The bigger reveal came seconds after Black Panther 3 release date announcement. David Jonsson, known for Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk, is the MCU’s new Black Panther. Jonsson plays T’Challa’s son, also named T’Challa, and Coogler described the film as a coming-of-age story about the character growing into the role.
That framing suggests something noticeably different in tone from the first two entries. Jonsson walked out to a standing ovation and kept his remarks short, thanking Coogler and Feige before saying he would rather let the screen do the talking.

This ends years of rumours pointing to Damson Idris, and it’s the first time the mantle has been recast since Chadwick Boseman’s death in 2020.
Ryan Gosling Is the New Ghost Rider in the MCU
Marvel opened the whole panel with this one, and it broke Hall H. Josh Horowitz shouted a question from the crowd asking about Ryan Gosling, and Feige responded by walking the actor out to the sound of a revving motorcycle. Gosling arrived on stage excited and shared, “Wow, is this really happening? Okay… uh… as you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time.”

He is playing Johnny Blaze. He said there was only one director who could do it, then named Shawn Levy, who directed Deadpool & Wolverine and is currently finishing Star Wars: Starfighter with Gosling. Levy told the crowd the two started riffing on the character during that shoot until he finally told Gosling to just go for it.
Ghost Rider hits theatres in 2028. Marvel unveiled a logo but showed no footage.
