Sony confirmed a cumulative domestic total of $858.4 million, nudging past Avengers: Endgame‘s old record of $858.37 million and putting Spider-Man: Brand New Day at number two on the all-time domestic chart (via Box Office Mojo, as of August 26, 2026), trailing only Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which still sits comfortably at the very top, with $936.6 million.

Closing the gap on The Force Awakens would take roughly 80 million dollars more, which sounded plausible not long ago, but the film earned only 39 million dollars in its fourth weekend alone, a drop of about 45 percent from the week before that. If that slide continues at a similar pace going forward, the remaining six weekends combined might not even clear 40 million dollars, which would likely leave that particular record just out of reach for now.
