Light Novel Arcs to Expect From the Upcoming Continuation of Season 4
The wait for Re: Zero Season 4 Part 2 hasn’t dragged on the way past hiatuses did, and that’s exactly why the Recapture Arc feels so anticipated. Premiering August 12, 2026, this second cour picks up right where the Loss Arc left things in ruins. The battle for Pristella is over, but nobody walked away whole. Rem is still locked in that endless sleep, Crusch has lost her memories entirely, and Julius, of all people, no longer has a name to call his own. Subaru isn’t spared either, carrying the weight of his own shattered sense of self out of the first cour and straight into whatever comes next.
Adapting Arc 6 from the light novels, often nicknamed the Pleiades Watchtower Arc or Corridor of Memories, this stretch of story is where the group finally goes looking for real answers instead of just surviving another disaster. That means a trip to the Pleiades Watchtower itself, a place notorious enough that even Reinhard couldn’t just walk in and needed help getting past its defenses. The Sage said to live there, Shaula, is rumored to hold knowledge that could undo what the Sin Archbishops broke, but nothing about this tower plays fair. Expect a maze-like structure, deadly trials, and answers that come with strings attached.
What makes this particular chunk of the story stand out isn’t the scale of the fights, though there’s plenty to worry about on that front. It’s the way the arc turns inward. Subaru losing pieces of himself isn’t a side effect of the plot; it basically becomes the plot, forcing him to figure out whether he’s still the same person underneath everything he’s forgotten.
A lot of long-time light novel readers point to this exact section, volumes 21 through 25, as the point where Re: Zero stops feeling like just another isekai and starts feeling like something heavier. With eight episodes to work with and a title literally built around getting something back, the “Recapture” in Recapture Arc might end up meaning a lot more than just rescuing a person. Because this arc leans so heavily into identity and memory, it sets up some of the most emotionally loaded material the anime has adapted so far.
