“We’re not going full Will and Jada”: Kanye West Didn’t End up Like Will Smith After Kim Kardashian Divorced Him

Ever thought about relationships that feel more like reality TV than actual love stories? Well, when it comes to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, that’s not far off the mark. Indeed, their love story, with its share of feuds, public breakups, and constant media scrutiny, could easily be mistaken for a drama series that just won’t quit.

While Kimye’s marriage may be a thing of the past, Ye’s love life has taken a few unexpected turns, leaving fans and tabloids alike perplexed. With revelations, public confessions, and some brutally honest moments, their relationship is its own emotional ride. So, how do these complex love stories stack up? Let’s dive in.

Kanye West drew shocking parallels between his divorce and Will & Jada Smith’s relationship

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s relationship was headline factory from the get-go. From their first meeting in the early 2000s to their very public breakup, their love story was anything but ordinary.

The couple shared four kids and became parents amid a whirlwind of media attention. But even with the glamour, and the billions, their marriage eventually hit a wall. In 2022, Kardashian filed for divorce (see TMZ); it was a public split that shocked the world.

But West opened up on Hollywood Unlocked, drawing a comparison between his breakup with Kardashian and the infamous Will and Jada Smith relationship.

All respect, dude, I gotta use these names as an example. My biggest thing is when I be on my Ye about to tweet, I don’t tweet anymore. I’m like, ‘We not going full Will and Jada.’

For West, it seemed clear—he wasn’t about to air his dirty laundry for the world to see, as Jada and Will Smith did so publicly. It was a statement of respect, but it also left fans wondering: How much of their relationship truly stayed behind closed doors, and how much was laid bare for all to judge?

Meanwhile, Will and Jada Smith’s relationship has been an open book—whether they liked it or not. After marrying in 1997, the couple raised two kids—Jaden and Willow Smith—and were looked at as the epitome of Hollywood power coupledom. But things got messy in 2016 when they publicly separated. While it isn’t “a divorce on paper”, the couple were reportedly “exhausted with trying” to work out their relationship.

They are reportedly not staying together. Smith even published his memoir Will, where he candidly opened up about their struggles. Jada Smith has also spoken publicly about her own battles, including addiction and the challenges she’s faced with her estranged husband, even discussing some of their more intimate issues on her Facebook show, Red Table Talk.

Meanwhile, in December 2022, Kanye West took another step down the aisle, this time with Bianca Censori, an Australian architect and model, in a private, low-key ceremony. The latter, who boasts both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture, carved out her place in West’s world, even holding the title of Head of Architecture at Yeezy.

At the 2025 Grammy Awards, the couple certainly turned heads—and not for the right reasons. The pair sparked a media firestorm on the red carpet when Censori stepped out in a daring sheer slip, leaving little to the imagination and revealing her body.
