Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 Proves Vincent D’Onofrio Is Not the Most Diabolical Villain in the Show

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 had some shocking twists that proved to the audience that Wilson Fisk isn’t the real big baddie of the series. The series kicked off with the shocking death of Foggy Nelson, and we now know who sent Benjamin Poindexter aka Bullseye after him.
The show perfectly crafted the villainous turn of a character who was there by the sidelines right from the Netflix days of the series. Fans have underestimated Vanessa Fisk for so long, but the recent episode, titled Isle of Joy, depicted a side of Vanessa that is as brutal as that of her husband.
There were not one but two twists in the tale that outlined Vanessa’s diabolical villain. At the beginning of the episode, fans got to see Vanessa’s one act of violence, when she pulled the trigger on someone the audience believed she was in love with.
One overlooked character is a more brutal villain than Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again
Ayelet Zurer‘s Vanessa Fisk gets her big moment after she appeared in the shadows of her husband for several seasons of Daredevil. For years, she was just an art dealer who fell in love with a brutal gangster. However, in the latest episode, we saw that Vanessa might be as protective of Wilson as he was of her.
At the beginning of the eighth episode of Daredevil: Born Again, the Fisks address one of the major issues in their marriage. Wilson has held her former lover, Adam, captive and takes Vanessa to him. Wilson tells Vanessa that she can free him, but she shocks the viewers with her next action. She shows commitment to her marriage and pulls the trigger on Adam, killing him.
After this brutal incident, Wilson and Vanessa dress up to attend the inaugural Black and White Ball. Wilson is dressed in his comic-accurate white suit, while Vanessa stands out among the crowd with her red gown. The event is attended by Matt Murdock, who confronts her with the truth.
He has learned that it was Vanessa who put out the hit on Foggy Nelson. It can be assumed that she was avenging her husband after Nelson Murdock and Page put him behind bars. His jail time essentially put a dent in their marriage and almost ruined the criminal empire, forcing Vanessa to step up to take charge of his illegal activities.
The episode ended with a showdown between Matt, the Fisks, and Dex, who escaped Rikers to take his revenge on Mayor Fisk. The episode, directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead, was just an absolute banger that makes us look forward to the season finale.
Is Vanessa Fisk hiding a major truth in Daredevil: Born Again?
Not all fans were convinced about Elden Henson‘s character’s death in the first episode. His cryptic conversation with Benny, his client, and Bullseye’s very public execution had already raised suspicions among fans about his death. A Reddit fan shared that Foggy could’ve faked his death for some unknown reason.
Now, after the big Vanessa Fisk reveal in the recent episode, fans can envision one comic storyline totally happening. In Daredevil (1998) #82, Foggy is seemingly killed when he visits Matt in prison. However, it is revealed that Vanessa placed him in witness protection to take revenge on both Daredevil and Kingpin.
So Vanessa definitely has Foggy alive somewhere, right? #DaredevilBornAgain pic.twitter.com/qRA6UDjYQd

During an interview with Brandon Davis, Head of Marvel Television Brad Winderbaum shared that both Foggy and Karen would be back in Season 2 of the series. Fans really hope Vanessa has got Foggy in hiding somewhere so that he can return alive in the second season.
