As official reports about Dwayne Johnson‘s WWE return remain uncertain, a new rumor claims that John Cena will be locking horns with The Rock in the ring pretty soon (even though we’ve been hearing that for ages, yes).

Per @TwoHeadsPodcast on X, the latest reports from sources claim that Johnson has apparently been scheduled to confront Cena “very, very soon.” When exactly this row between the Final Boss and the newest heel of WWE after his long era as a babyface will happen, currently, remains to be seen.

It’s worth noting, though, that this confrontation has been teased for a long time – so long that wrestling fans who have been rooting for and looking forward to it all along might as well have stopped keeping count.

Plus, Johnson didn’t appear at WrestleMania 41 either, making his return to WWE seem more unlikely than not. So these rumored plans about his return can’t be said to be true for sure, for now.

Though a potential showdown between John Cena and Dwayne Johnson has long been awaited, fans are still divided over this latest news teasing the confrontation between them in the near future. While some fans are super buzzed up about it, a few others feel that reigniting the Cena-Rock feud isn’t really necessary.

But then Cena turned heel after his long run as a babyface at the Elimination Chamber 2025, siding with Johnson. This opened up new narrative possibilities, including a potential betrayal that could lead to a match against The Rock.

Since Cena, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, is on his farewell tour, fans are speculating about potential final matches. Amidst this, John Cena vs The Rock sounds like a high-profile option, which would be a major event in WWE after their brief alliance and their history of epic matches.
