When Might Forza Horizon 6 Come to the Playstation 5?

Forza Horizon 6 was officially announced during the Tokyo Game Show on September 25, 2025, and it is set to launch first on Xbox Series X|S and PC in early 2026. But don’t get worried just yet, PlayStation users, because it’s coming to the PS5 too, just “post-launch.” But what does that actually mean?

With this upcoming entry, Playground Games is taking our favorite open-world racing festival to one of the most requested locations ever, Japan. And this time, PS5 players might not want to wait as long as they did for Forza Horizon 5, which took almost four years after its release on Xbox and PC. So, when might Forza Horizon 6 arrive on Sony’s console?

The PS5 Release Window for Forza Horizon 6

Microsoft confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026, with the PS5 version coming sometime after. This is very similar to how the last game in the franchise was handled. Forza Horizon 5 originally launched on Xbox and PC on November 9, 2021, before finally arriving on PlayStation 5 nearly four years later on April 29, 2025.

So just as a baseline, we can expect it to be no more than that. But in all honesty, there are reasons to believe history won’t repeat itself to that extent. This time, Microsoft and Playground Games announced PS5 support from the very beginning, even enlisting Turn 10 Studios to help with the PlayStation port.

This is different because FH5 only got a PlayStation version much later due to changes in Microsoft’s strategy for Xbox gaming. In recent years, Microsoft and the Xbox gaming brand have moved away from exclusivity in an approach that favors accessibility for all gamers. And with that in mind, a shorter delay seems far more realistic.

Interestingly, we didn’t get a lot of hints of whether there would be eventual support for the PlayStation 6 and even Nintendo’s Switch 2. If a Switch 2 port is coming, it might be early in development. For now, PS5 players may have to wait until late 2026 or sometime in 2027 before stepping into Horizon Japan.

Will Forza Horizon 6 Have Crossplay and Cross-Progression on PS5?

Crossplay and cross-progression were a big part of the Forza Horizon 5 feature list. It allowed players on Xbox, PC, and eventually PlayStation to race together without losing their progress. When FH5 came to the PS5 earlier this year, it fully supported both features, instantly connecting the new PlayStation player base to the larger Forza community.

And with that in mind, Forza Horizon 6 will likely continue supporting crossplay and cross-progression once the PS5 version is available. The game is being built with a global community in mind, and Playground Games is committed to accessibility across platforms. Online play is central to the Horizon experience, and crossplay ensures that no platform is left behind.

Crossplay would also be a big help to the online community and the festival aspect of the game. It would mean that no matter the console you’re on, everyone takes part in the same seasonal events, races, and challenges. Cross-progression could be trickier to implement on PlayStation due to ecosystem differences, but from what we got in FH5, at least partial support will likely be included.

Will you be playing Forza Horizon 6 at launch? Which platform will you be playing it on? Let us know in the comments!
