
Former American Idol contestant Randy Madden has been released by the Superior Court of California on bond, after having been charged for allegedly having s*xual relations with a minor. TMZ was the first to report.
He was charged on Monday, November 3, and was released on Tuesday with $100,000 bail (via PEOPLE). However, his release bond contains a lot of restrictions, including no contact whatsoever with people under the age of 18.
He is also not supposed to have any contact with the alleged victim, engage in internet communication that involves the publication/distribution of s*xual content with a person under the age of 18, possess any software designed to encrypt data, or have a false ID including fake IDs on the internet, and provide consent to seach any of his property, including emails and accounts, at any time among other things.

45-year-old Randy Madden is facing over six serious charges, including allegedly having s*x with a minor, as TMZ reported. The records reviewed by PEOPLE include unlawful s*xual encounter, a*al and g*nital penetration by a foreign object, oral copulation with a minor, luring and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, and “sending harmful matter“.
While it has not been revealed how old his alleged victim is, a criminal protective order has been filed for them. The court documents show that the charges are a result of at least one alleged encounter between July and September 2025.
Having been booked by the Ventura County Sheriff on Thursday, October 30, Madden made an appearance in court via Zoom call. Having pleaded not guilty, his next scheduled court appearance is on Thursday, November 13.

Randy Madden auditioned for Season 8 of American Idol, performing Livin’ on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. You can watch his full audition in Phoenix, Arizona, here. He did not secure a yes from any judge in Season 8, leading to his elimination. He later came back to audition for Season 9.
It is unclear what became of his music career following his audition, but currently, Ventura County Sheriff’s online records list him as disabled. His Instagram has a GoFundMe link, requesting help with living expenses after suffering from a horrific motorcycle accident.
