Ava Raine is a “Nepo Hire” and “Consistently Terrible”: The Rock’s Daughter Reacts to Critic

Dwayne Johnson’s daughter, Ava Raine, may be the current NXT General Manager, but the way she handled the tussle between the NXT Champion, Ricky Saints, and the former TNA Champion, Trick Williams, displeased Wrestling Observer Radio’s Bryan Alvarez.

Alvarez bashed Raine’s decision to provide Williams with a shot at the Saints’ NXT Championship, despite all the destruction he has caused. He opined that Raine was the most “consistent” in being “terrible.” The wrestling pundit also referred to The Rock’s daughter as a “nepo hiring” in addition to firing shots at her on-screen gimmick. Raine provided a rebuttal to Alvarez’s “nepo hiring” comments a few hours ago, shortly after he criticized her. The Rock’s daughter said:

Man… I remember my first day on earth, too.

While each fan can have their own opinion about this issue, some of Raine’s personal and NXT-related decisions have actually sparked controversies.

The scuffle between Saints and Williams disrupted the main event of the October 28 episode of NXT, featuring a clash between Kelani Jordan and Jordynne Grace for the TNA Knockouts World Title. It became the primary factor behind the contest ending in an unfair victory for Jordan.

In the ending moments of the match, the referee got distracted by Williams and Saints’ melee at ringside. This provided Jordan with the chance to land an unnoticed shot on Garce and retain her title.

Raine’s call to provide Williams with another title shot regardless of the destruction he caused annoyed Alvarez, triggering critical remarks about her decision-making skills.

However, this isn’t the first time Raine’s decision has drawn criticism from the fanbase. At No Mercy on September 27, Raine announced that NXT would host an event named Invasion on October 7, which didn’t sit well with the fans.

Raine and Co. may have named the event Invasion due to the background storyline of TNA wrestlers invading NXT. However, its date and name unintentionally linked the event to the Palestinian terrorist organization, Hamas’s inhuman invasion of Israel, which took place on October 7, 2023, and caused the death of almost 1200 innocent civilians. Besides her professional side, one of Raine’s personal opinions also subjected her to a fair amount of backlash.

The noted American conservative political activist Charlie Kirk met a tragic end on September 10 this year. Kirk was assassinated in broad daylight during his public interaction session at Utah University.

While thousands of Americans mourned Kirk’s death, Raine put out a relatively insensitive comment about him following his assassination. Johnson’s daughter posted an Instagram story that said:

If you want people to have kind words when you pass, you should say kind words when you’re alive

Many of Kirk’s followers were enraged by Raine’s remarks about someone who was no longer there. (via Sportskeeda) Some of them also called for her termination from the WWE, which had no effect on the promotional authorities.

Regardless of all this, would you agree with Alvarez’s comments about Raine being a “nepo hire”? Where do you think she would have been if she weren’t The Rock’s daughter? Let us know in the comments below.
