The Will of D. has been one of the biggest mysteries of One Piece for a long time; along with it, the Davy Jones figure was also wrapped in shadows. Yet, no one could have expected that the two were actually connected with each other. Chapter 1164 of One Piece reveals that the Will of D. is actually the Will of Davy Jones.
In the chapter, Rocks D. Xebec confronted Imu and even threatened him about the Will of Davy Jones. The confrontation resulted in a back-and-forth that spilled plenty of secrets.
One Piece Reveals Davy Jones and Imu Are Bound by Fate
Davy Jones or Davy D. Jones lived approximately 800 years prior to the current storyline. He was a legendary pirate and is said to have been cursed by a demon to live the rest of his life on the sea floor. He is also a distant ancestor of Rocks D. Xebec. Because of his enmity with the World Government, the Davy family had to go into hiding so that the D. in their names would be kept a secret.
The World Government hunted down the descendants of Davy for centuries. In One Piece chapter 1164, Rocks reveals that Davy D. Jones was the name of the previous King of the World. At the same time, Imu states that fate binds Imu and Davy, and apparently, Rocks is not involved in that fate.
Rocks also reveals that Imu has two people to be scared of, Davy D. Jones and Joyboy. Luffy’s name suggests that he might be a descendant of the Davy Clan, and he also possesses the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika Devil Fruit that once belonged to Imu. This could mean that Luffy is the one fated to fulfill the will of Davy D. Jones.
The Inheritor of Will of D. Will Fulfill a Crucial Promise
Furthermore, Rocks reveals that Imu must have been afraid for a long time that someone would inherit Davy’s will and fulfill “the promise”. It is not yet revealed what promise is being talked about, but there is a chance that the promise means dethroning the World Government or Imu, which is why Imu has been hunting down the Davy clan for ages via the World Government.
During the Gods Valley incident, Imu took hold of Rocks and ordered him to put an end to Davy’s dream. Rocks became a victim of Imu’s powers. Rocks realized that he had been entrusted to annihilate Davy’s lineage with his own hands. Imu further commands Rocks to snuff out all obstacles in God Valley.
Thus is a simple confirmation that Imu is indeed afraid of someone inheriting Davy’s will. Otherwise, he would have never forced Rocks to purge the blood of Davy from the pages of history. Imu feels threatened that a new King of the World will emerge from Davy’s lineage.
