Roman Reigns vs Dwayne Johnson Survivor Series Record: Who Has Performed Better?

While WWE Survivor Series 2025 is scheduled to feature four enthralling clashes, the men’s WarGames match featuring Roman Reigns and nine other stars has been a significant talking point for fans. Reigns will join hands with four other stars (CM Punk, Jey and Jimmy Uso, and Cody Rhodes) to take on the team of Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, and The Vision (Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, and Bron Breakker) on the night of November 29, 2025.

Triple H and Co. portrayed Lesnar as Reigns’ primary target in his rival team, which speaks volumes about his stardom in the WWE community. The OTC’s notoriety stems from the numerous memorable encounters he has delivered throughout his career, which also include Survivor Series matches.

Most fans will probably count Reigns among the all-time greats in WWE, but do the OTC’s Survivor Series performances also say the same? Additionally, now that the 40-year-old has joined the ranks of WWE greats like John Cena and Lesnar, let’s examine his Survivor Series record in comparison to another all-time WWE great from his dynasty, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Roman Reigns’ Record in Survivor Series Matches

Earlier, the count of showdowns in every WWE premium event used to be much higher. Until the early 2020s, the lineup of almost every WWE PPV used to contain seven to eight matches, which sometimes extended to as many as twelve matches for specific events.

However, Triple H and Co. adopted the five-match model for WWE PLEs in mid-2022, which changed the events significantly. However, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that this change took the biggest toll on Survivor Series.

Before the introduction of the five-match model for PLEs, several WWE stars, including Reigns and Johnson, competed in multiple matches on the same edition of Survivor Series, on the same night. Reigns had his first official match at Survivor Series 2013, after which he has appeared in almost every edition of the event, except for a couple of years.

The OTC teamed up with his Shield partners, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, and the Real Americans (Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro) to take on The Usos, Rhodes Brothers (Cody Rhodes and Goldust), and Rey Mysterio in the 5-on-5 team elimination clash in Survivor Series 2013, which is now called the WarGames match.

Reigns made a massive statement in the match by driving his team home almost single-handedly. The OTC eliminated four opponents to win his first official Survivor Series match in 2013.

However, the 2015 Survivor Series became a special one for Reigns as he competed in three matches on the same night. The 40-year-old competed in the WWE World Heavyweight tournament in this edition, rather than participating in the 5-on-5 team elimination match.

Reigns advanced to the finals of the WWE World Heavyweight tournament with a victory over Alberto Del Rio in the semifinals, which was his first match of the night.

Like 2013, the 2015 edition of Survivor Series also became a glorious one for Reigns as he defeated his former Shield partner, Dean Ambrose, in the finals to win the WWE World Heavyweight tournament.

However, the night ended in disappointment for the 40-year-old as he lost the WWE World Heavyweight title to Sheamus, just minutes after winning it. The Great White cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase after Reigns’ victory and defeated him to snatch his title.

Reigns has been in six more matches in Survivor Series to date. Here’s a summary of all the encounters.

Overall, the statistics regarding Reigns’ Survivor Series performances say that he won seven and lost three of his ten matches, regardless of their type.

Now, let’s take a look at how The Rock has done in his Survivor Series matches throughout the years.

Dwayne Johnson’s Record in Survivor Series Matches

Considering that Johnson entered the WWE in 1996, fans may think that he has more matches at Survivor Series than Reigns. However, The Rock has been in and out of the WWE multiple times, unlike Reigns, who has been a consistently reliable performer. As a result, Johnson has appeared in the same number of matches at Survivor Series as Reigns: ten.

The fact that both stars have an equal number of matches at Survivor Series makes the comparison much easier. So let’s see if The Rock can get the better of his Samoan dynasty member.

Johnson made his WWE debut in the 1996 edition of Survivor Series as Rocky Maivia, a generous babyface. He competed in the four-on-four elimination match of the event, where he scored two eliminations and drove his team home by being the last man standing.

Johnson participated in a similar four-on-four elimination match in the next edition of Survivor Series as well. By the 1997 edition of the event, he had transitioned to a heel, leaving his babyface persona behind.

The Rock became a part of the Nation of Domination faction, besides Farooq, Kama Mustafa, and D’Lo Brown, and locked horns with Ken Shamrock, Ahmed Johnson, and The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal) at Survivor Series 1997. But this time, his venture ended in defeat.

With Johnson standing at 1-1 in his first two Survivor Series matches, here’s a summary of the eight other matches he had in different editions of the event. Notably, half of the eight matches took place at Survivor Series 1998.

Sl. No. Year Type of match Companions Opponent/s Results
1. 1996 4-on-4 Elimination Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Marc Mero, and Barry Windham Triple H, Goldust, Crush, and Jerry “The King” Lawler Johnson’s faction won
2. 1997 4-on-4 Elimination Farooq, Kama Mustafa, and D’Lo Brown Ken Shamrock, Ahmed Johnson, and The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal) Johnson’s faction lost
3. 1998 Singles, First round of the WWE Championship tournament Big Boss Man Johnson won
4. 1998 Singles, WWE Championship tournament quarterfinals Ken Shamrock Johnson won
5. 1998 Singles, WWE Championship tournament semifinals The Undertaker Johnson won
6. 1998 Singles, WWE Championship tournament finals Mankind Johnson won
7. 1999 Triple threat for the WWE Championship Big Show, Triple H Johnson lost
8. 2000 Singles Rikishi Johnson won
9. 2001 5-on-5 Elimination Chris Jericho, Big Show, Kane & Undertaker Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Shane McMahon, Booker T & Rob Van Dam Johnson’s faction won
10. 2011 Traditional 2-on-2 tag team John Cena The Miz, R-Truth Johnson’s faction won

A simple calculation reveals that Johnson has won eight out of his ten matches at Survivor Series, regardless of the match type. Comparing his 8-2 record with Reigns’ 7-3 stats at Survivor Series indicates that The People’s Champ has performed slightly better than the OTC.

However, Reigns has several more years left in his WWE career, while Johnson makes just occasional appearances now and doesn’t even wrestle in them.

So, how long do you think Reigns will take to equal the number of victories Johnson has at Survivor Series? Will it happen this year only, just a day later? Let us know in the comments below.
