For years, one of the biggest anime debates ever – Naruto vs. One Piece – has kept fans divided. And while One Piece usually takes the W, 2025 turned out to be Naruto’s year. Because even 11 years after it ended, Naruto / Shippuden managed to come out on top on Netflix in a ranked list of total hours watched from January to June (via Netflix).
As for the ranking, Naruto sits on the throne with 45 million watch hours across its seasons, followed by several Studio Ghibli films like Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, etc. One Piece comes in at 5th place with 28 million watch hours, even behind Detective Conan and Pokémon.

However, it’s important to note that on Netflix, One Piece only has the recent Egghead Island episodes, as the earlier arcs aren’t available due to licensing issues. Even so, Naruto is still competing with the biggest new-gen or ongoing anime, and the fact that it’s coming out on top speaks volumes about its lasting power. And it’s not just Netflix; several other reports also show Naruto beating One Piece.
Places Beyond Netflix Where Naruto Continues to Dominate

Back in the 2010s, even though One Piece was still going strong, it was Naruto Shippuden that consistently took over Crunchyroll’s servers. No matter the region, it kept topping the charts and basically became the most popular anime worldwide. For a show that had already wrapped up most of its major arcs, that kind of dominance is wild.
The momentum didn’t stop there. TV Tokyo’s Financial Report for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2026 even crowned Naruto with the highest sales, proving the franchise still brings in massive numbers.

On top of that, tons of statistical surveys and popularity polls over the years keep pointing to the same trend: Naruto just stays on top. Whether it’s nostalgia, character appeal, emotional storytelling, or pure global reach, the fanbase keeps showing up, and the numbers speak for themselves.

Naruto Beats One Piece on Netflix: How Much It Actually Matters
With the fanbase being so divided, news like this is a huge win for Naruto fans. Isn’t it always fun seeing your favorite series shine again? That said, One Piece is still going crazy strong with its recent episodes, so the rivalry isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
When it comes to manga sales in Japan, though, One Piece has always been the king. Naruto never managed to surpass it in print numbers, and that gap has stayed pretty consistent over the years.
Here’s a quick table comparing the general ratings of Naruto and One Piece:
| TITLE | RELEASE DATE | MAL RATING | IMDb RATING | ROTTENTOMATOES |
| Naruto | October 3, 2002 (Naruto) February 15, 2007 (Naruto: Shippuden) |
8.02/10 (Naruto) 8.28/10 (Naruto: Shippuden) |
8.4/10 (Naruto) 8.7/10 (Naruto: Shippuden) |
81% (Naruto) 86% (Naruto: Shippuden) |
| One Piece | October 20, 1999 | 8.73/10 | 9.0/10 | 92% |
Still, at the end of the day, the Netflix rankings prove that Naruto’s legacy is nowhere near fading; it’s still one of the most generational anime of all time. So if you’re a Naruto fan, this is definitely a moment to celebrate. Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments.
All previously released episodes of the Naruto series are currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
