Was Avengers: Endgame’s Greatest Plot Twist Stolen From 1 Classic Cartoon Network Series

Although Avengers: Endgame introduced a ton of new concepts, as well as some iconic plotlines and timelines, it shares similarities with one classic Cartoon Network series, and the resemblance is uncanny.

In Ben 10: Omniverse, Vilgax uses the Chronosapien Time Bomb to disintegrate every alternate version of Ben across the multiverse (similar to Thanos’ snap). In Ben 10: Omniverse, the Ben variant without a watch becomes the sole survivor of the catastrophe.

Together, Ben and Professor Paradox travel through the Timestream to recruit versions of Ben from different points in history, while the Avengers go back in time to collect the Infinity Stone.

Naturally, we come to the final fight where the bad guy is defeated, and the good guys win. The only difference is that Ben 10 doesn’t sacrifice himself to defeat Vilgax (sorry, Iron Man).

Was Ben 10: Omniverse Inspired by Marvel Comics?

Ben 10: Omniverse was undeniably inspired by Marvel Comics, as the creative team behind this character is comprised of literal veterans of the Marvel industry.

Ben 10 was created by Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, and Steven T. Seagle. Before Ben 10, these veterans worked on iconic Marvel titles like X-Men, Deadpool, and The Hulk. They are the same team that created the original comic Big Hero 6 (which Disney later turned into a movie).

Having worked with Marvel for quite a while, there were several moments and character inspirations that were clearly visible as key Marvel elements used in Ben 10. However, the Ben 10: Omniverse and Avengers: Endgame parallels are quite uncanny.

Can Netflix’s Buying of Warner Bros. Revive the Ben 10 Franchise?

The short answer? Yes. The long answer? Once Netflix acquires Warner Bros. for a whopping $82.7 billion, the character Ben 10 will become an original IP for Netflix, alongside the entire Cartoon Network media library.

While on cable, Ben 10 suffered because of ratings, primetime slots, and being “neglected” over shows that fared better. However, with Netflix calling the shots, the Ben 10 franchise could just be revived for a nostalgia factor, and could really work well.

Millions of fans will likely tune in to relive childhood memories, not just Ben 10, but other Cartoon Network shows as well. Therefore, with the Netflix-WB acquisition, there are high hopes that we will get to see Ben 10 again, at least in some capacity.
