Born Again Season 2’s 90% RT Score Still Can’t Beat Netflix Daredevil Season 1’s Near-Perfect Run

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has broken the record of its previous season with a solid 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (as of March 25, 2026), with just one episode being released at the moment. While this might be a new milestone for the TV production side of Marvel Studios, the MCU still lags behind Netflix‘s version of Marvel’s Daredevil, where its Season 1 still holds a whopping 99% RT score.

TV Series Creator Seasons Rotten Tomatoes Score (As of March 25, 2026)
Marvel’s Daredevil Drew Goddard Season 1 99% | 93%
Daredevil: Born Again Dario Scardapane Season 2 90% | 97%

What is fascinating is that despite the Netflix series releasing more than a decade ago in 2015, the near-perfect score it had received back then hasn’t budged an inch after all this time. And for the exception of Season 2’s 81% rating, the rest of Marvel’s Daredevil is still undisputed in comparison to the MCU’s reboot.

The Core Difference Between MCU’s and Netflix’s Daredevil Series

When Netflix’s Daredevil first burst on the scene, it was unlike anything that we had seen from superhero TV series in the past. Especially with its tone, of being produced mainly similar to a slow-burning crime drama, it felt more like watching a noir film/TV series.

In comparison, while the MCU’s soft reboot still kept much of these elements intact, its addition of the signature Marvel superhero spectacle dulled the gritty and dark nature to a noticeable extent. Simply put, while Netflix’s version was extremely character-heavy, introspective, and crime-noir, Marvel Studios’ version is more action-heavy, superhero-focused, and geared toward cohesiveness for an overarching narrative of the franchise.

What also pulled Daredevil: Born Again from reaching the heights of the original was the major changes that took place in the story, with beloved major characters that brought the story together leaving, and being replaced with new ones, something that took away from the magic.

And lastly, the series’ storytelling also changed under the MCU, where instead of deep, standalone philosophical and moral conundrums, Born Again proceeded with multiple moving storylines, giving less focus on the aforementioned aspects that made the original series so great. While the MCU series is still exceptionally amazing, these minor changes added up to drag it down a bit in comparison to its predecessors.

While Season 2 may be behind Marvel’s Daredevil Season 1 ratings, there’s still time for it to make significant strides as more Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 episodes are released every week. And according to actor Vincent D’Onofrio, this season is more hardcore than the previous one.

In a panel at Rhode Island Comic Con 2025 (via YT @Altered Reality Entertainment), the star who plays the terrifying Kingpin in the series revealed that the grittiness and viscera that viewers witnessed in Season 1 have been surpassed in Season 2, saying:

You guys are in for quite an intense season. It is intense. It is not a light storyline. I mean, it’s f—ing brutal. The second season was more exciting for me.

Thus, with such a huge compliment from the actor playing the main antagonist of the series, it’s safe to assume that there’s still a lot more of the familiar Daredevil DNA that we will be seeing as new episodes are released.
