The 47th season of Survivor aired on September 18, 2024, with a two-hour-long premiere. After the premiere, The CBS reality show has been streaming 90-minute episodes. Each episode is released every Wednesday at 8:00 pm ET/PT, and the longer episodes consist of additional screentime of castaways and their challenges and BTS.

The lengthened runtime kicked off in the last two seasons because of WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes to fill time. Now, it has become quite successful. Every new ‘era’ Survivor has come up with 13 episodes. So it can be assumed that season 47 will have its finale on December 11, 2024.

Survivor Season 47: Location & Theme

Season 47 was filmed in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, and since the 33rd season, the reality show’s location has been this. One of the main USPs of Survivor has been its themes. But after Survivor: Winners at War (season 40), they stopped using themes and started naming them with the season numbers. There were themes like Fans vs. Favorites, Heroes vs. Villains, and Blood vs. Water, which would separate the tribes as per the designations.

The show also separated players based on characteristics like Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty clash on Survivor: Cagayan, the battle of the sexes seasons (The Amazon, Vanuatu, and One World). The twists of the games were also built revolving around the themes like Exile Island and Redemption Island. But once it settled in Fiji and they started numbering the seasons, the magic of the themes got lost in it.

Jeff Probst talking about not having a theme to push a bigger picture for Survivor globally with Entertainment Weekly, shared, “When you step back and look at Survivor from a global big, big, big picture, it’s: How long will the show run? And where are you going to take it?” says the host. “And so you do have to sort of manage the creativity from a broad sense.

Survivor 47: Contestants

These 18 players will be fighting against each other to survive the situation. They will be tested for mental and physical strengths as they go ahead and explore alliances, strategies, and eliminations. Each and every member of the show comes from different backgrounds and professions.

In Survivor season 46, Kenzie Petty played quite well and shone in every game with her talent as well as her fashion sense. However, in the Final Three, she won the Sole Survivor title with a close vote.

Survivor 47: Where To Watch?

Survivor season 47 airs on CBS. But apart from that if you want to watch it later, the show gets available the next day of its release on Paramount + for the subscribers. All of the 45 seasons can also be streamed on the OTT platform. Netflix and Prime Video also have a few seasons of the reality show.

Survivor fans can expect seasons 48 and 49 to be available soon as Probst, the host and showrunner of the series has already announced the 50th season. While talking about upcoming plans for the theme and concept for season 50, Jeff Probst in an interview with Entertainment Weekly said,

We have not come up with our idea for 50 yet. Obviously, we think about it. We still have 47, 48, and 49, and you might think I’m deflecting, but I don’t. To me, those are stress-inducing problems. What are we going to do in 47? What are we going to do in 48? What are we going to do in 49? Then, if we get to 50, what are we going to do? And how do you top Winners at War? What is the idea that would be fun to do? I don’t know. We’re working on it, dreaming about it a lot. Don’t have the answer yet.

He also spoke of the upcoming 50th season on his Instagram account recently. He shared in a statement, “We just decided, thanks to all the fans that were in attendance at the FYC event here in Hollywood, that Survivor 50 will be returning players.

So far, 9 episodes have been out of Survivor season 47, and eight contestants have already been out of the game. This list includes Sierra Wright, Anika Dhar, Tiyana Hallums, Rome Cooney, Kishan Patel, Aysha Welch, Terran “TK” Foster, and Jon Lovett. The rest of them are still in the show competing against each other. Keep watching Survivor 47 to know who wins the title in this one.
