Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Renewal Status & Possible Comic Storylines Explained

While the second season of Daredevil: Born Again may have just premiered, fans will be delighted to know that filming for Season 3 is already underway. In an interview with IGN last year, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming, television, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, revealed that they were greenlit for a new season after the current one wrapped up, saying:

In terms of Daredevil, yeah, we are greenlit for Season 3 and we start shooting next year.

And in light of this announcement, fans have been speculating as to which comic storylines from Marvel the series will be adapting next. Thus, seeing as the current trajectory of the show focuses on Mayor Fisk and other major characters like Bullseye, here are the potential storylines fans can witness in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.

The Potential Storylines Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Can Follow

The one story that sticks out as the potential Season 3 storyline from the comics is the ‘Guardian Devil’ arc that was witnessed in Daredevil Vol. 2, from issue #1 to #8. In this storyline, the focus of Murdock is to save and protect a young infant, who is positioned as humanity’s savior by a religious cult, while Karen Page suffers from AIDS, and Foggy Nelson has been wrongfully framed for murder.

And according to the main lead, Charlie Cox himself, the next Season will be leaving the shadow of Wilson Fisk behind and begin a whole new era for the series. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said:

I haven’t read the whole thing, but, no, it feels like we’ve shed the skin of the Mayor Fisk era. It feels like it’s a new book, a new dawn a little bit.

Thus, the doubling down of more grounded and philosophically challenging stories fits the bill for Season 3. Another, more likely storyline that we can see comes from Daredevil Vol. 2, from issue #46 to #50, where the events lead to the titular protagonist absolutely beating down Kingpin and sending him to justice.

After that, he assumes a similar authoritative role as Fisk and orders the criminals to clean up their act or leave, unless they, too, want to face his wrath. Considering the production wants to step away from the ‘Mayor Fisk’ arc to usher in a new age, this will prove to be the perfect way to consolidate and start anew from Season 3.

But by far the storyline with the most potential to be adapted has to be Daredevil & Elektra: The Red Fist Saga, which sees the Man With No Fear teaming up with Elektra and forming the Red Fist, a team dedicated to absolutely destroying the evil organisation known as The Hand. And one of the reasons why it may be the most likely narrative to be followed in Season 3 is due to the introduction of this evil organisation in the trailer of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

One of the main reasons why the Red First Saga makes the most sense to be adapted in Season 3 stems from the timeline of Season 2’s release schedule, as well as the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July this year.

For starters, as the last episode of Season 2 wraps up on May 12, 2026, Brand New Day is set to release in July. And considering that The Hand has been one of the main antagonistic forces in Daredevil’s history in the comics, there’s a high probability that Cox will be making his appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man film, seeing as Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is also present in it.

Therefore, while the film may wrap up Peter Parker’s struggle against the organisation, this can lead to The Hand becoming the next big villain of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, which is expected to be released in 2027. This will allow Marvel Studios to utilise such a major antagonist in two big projects, while also connecting the TV shows to the wider MCU as a whole.

Here’s an overview of Daredevil: Born Again.
